FRENCH ART OF HAIR: Presenting the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award 2008
L’Oreal is a cosmetics industry’ s largest investor in research with hi-tech industry approach that guarantees innovative, high-value-added products and with about 100 years of experience in the beauty industry. L’Oreal maintains a diverse yet complimentary portfolio of 24 international brands, sold in 130 countries.
As a main player in cosmetics industry, 12 finalists of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award 2008, recognised as Malaysia’s most innovative and prestigious hairdressing event, were unveiled at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre recently. The L’Oreal Colour Trophy 2008, themed as the ‘Oscar Of The Hairdressing Industry’ is back with a difference, by retracing its roots with the theme ‘French Art of Hair’.
The theme this year is in line with the brand’s direction-looking for a hair creation that is modern but gives an unexpected twist to classical trends of French sense of beauty and French inspired creations, such as, French heritage in architectures of art, French touch in hair and fashion or even the French taste in art of living and cuisine.The winning look will express a fashionable colour design that is modern with cutting-edge, which reflects the trends of new season that will ultimately leads the future hair trends of 2008.
The finalists will be having grand showdown in July, whereby the Grand Prize winner will walk home more than RM65,000 worth of prizes comprising a trip to London to have an opportunity to work with international hairdressers for artistic sharing and exposure.
The 12 finalists will be facing the Grand Final Panel of Judges comprise Bernard Chandran (a renowned fashion designer), Grace Lee (Editor of NuYou Singapore), Monica Lee (a renowned makeup artist), Royston & Blythe (international guest artists), Luisa Barberis (Chief Editor of Estetica, Italy) and Xu Kai, L’Oreal artistic ambassador of China.
In conjunction with the Colour Trophy Award, five new L’Oreal Professionnel Artistic Ambassadors (AA) for 2008/2009 were also unveiled, and these five new Ambassadors were recognised by L’Oreal for their creativity and expertise in the field of professional hairdressing, thus will represent as the face and voice of L’Oreal Professionnel for these coming two years.
Guardian Host It’s Annual Charity Walkathon
Guardian established its first pharmacy 41 years ago and is now the leading and largest pharmacy, health and beauty store in Malaysia as well as in Asia Pacific, has organized its Annual Charity Walkathon to create health awareness and raise charity funds for the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM) at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park recently.
The 3km walk was flagged off by the Selangor State Health Department Deputy Director, Dr Rahimah Mohd Ariffin and Guardian’s Chief Operating Officer, Miss Loi Liang Tok from the Sunway Lagoon Auditorium.Miss Loi in her speech, said that the Walkathon has raised funds to support NASAM’s programs for stroke patients and their families for the past four years. This year itself, the walkathon has raised RM12,000, bringing Guardian’s total contribution to NASAM of up to RM50,000 over a period of four years. A special route was made available for the NASAM 40 stroke patients to ensure that they can be participants of the event.
The Charity Walkathon is an annual event with prizes amounting to more than RM3000 up for grabs, and it is aimed to highlight the importance of healthy and balance lifestyle in addition to raising funds for a worthy cause. The number of participants for this year has increased to 1500 compared to last year. The participants of Walkathon were given a treat of Shanghai Acrobatic Show, a host of fun family activities like Chinese Calligraphy, antics of balloon sculpting clown, face painting and special appearance of Guardian Brand Ambassadors – “3R”.
