Gloria Jean’s Coffees Launches its Newly Design Pure Loose Leaf Tea “Pyramid Tea”

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Introduces The All New B-Class Sports Tourer

In complementing with its present line-up of B-Class series, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced its latest re-designed and re-engineered the all new B-Class at Villa Manja, Kuala Lumpur recently.

Claimed as the blueprint for a new species of car which harmonises the benefits of various vehicle concepts, the four door model boasts the dynamic design of a sporty saloon, the exterior dimensions of a compact car, the spaciouness of an estate, the versatility of a mini MPV and the trademark safety of a Mercedes-Benz, the new generation B-Class focuses on environmental compatibility, economic efficiency and comfort.

Powered by a 4 in-line 1699cc engine with 2 valves per cylinder that ables to pump out maximum power output between 85 to 116 kW/hp at 5500 rpm and maximum torque of 155Nm at 3500-4000 rpm, the new B-Class is enhanced by electronic controlled petrol injection and AUTOTRONIC, continously variable transmission (CVT).

The new B-Class exterior front showcases the new bumper design which emphasises the large air intake at the bottom as well as the modified bonnet to make the front look broad and sportier. The exterior mirror housings, door handles and skirt panels are painted to match the body colour on all model variants. The rear exterior features sporty taillight with a new outstanding large tailgate that comes with an enhanced chrome handle strip.

The interior of new B-Class is complemented by high seating position to improve the drivers’ view, while the centre console is underlined by trim strips on both sides that are made from diagonally brushed aluminium in a smoke grey finish. The trim strips is also featured at the gearshift and in the door panelling.

With highly effective, standard-fit technology namely, ABS, Brake Assist and ESP (Electronic Stability Program) intergrated in automatic hill-start assist to prevent B-Class model from rolling backwards by maintaning brake pressure, the B-Class is equipped with new active parking assist mode to help the driver to look for an appropriate spot at the side of the road. With the help of PARKTRONIC ultrasonic sensors will scan for the suitable parking lot and follows by active parking assist mode will automatically takes over the steering and manoeuvres the Mercedes-Benz B-Class into the vacant parking space. To be able to use the automatic parking feature, the parking spot only has to be 1.3 metres longer than the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.

The new B-Class model also comes with optional features in its new generation of infotainment systems, such as Audio 20 incorporate a radio with dual tuner, colour display, 6-disc CD-changer, Bluetooth, interface for mobile phones, CD player and automatic volume adjustment. Its interactive media interface allows iPod & Co to be linked up to the Sports Tourer’s infotainment system, is operated by buttons located at the multifunction steering wheel for the drivers’ convenience.

BHPetrol Unveils The X-Factor Fuel “INFINITI”

BHPetrol has organised an X-Factor Fuel Challenge recently, with an aim to reveal the true identity of the fuel used in a blind test. The BHP Fuel Challenge was participated by 60 members of the public based on the criteria of being a user of all petrol brands, a mixture of both male and female, from all major races, from an age group of between 20 to 40 years old, and owning a car that is between two to ten years old.

Innovatively developed using a high-performance 100% synthetic additive, the Infiniti fuel fulfills motorists the maximum in performance and fuel economy. BMW Malaysia Introduces a New Dimension of Driving Dynamics-Sports Activity Coupe BMW X6 xDrive35i

In introducing the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe which offers a brand new, innovative interpretation of features and design qualities that exemplifies superior driving dynamics, all wrapped in the svelte lines of a Coupe, BMW Malaysia has unveiled BMW X6 vDrive35i at its Studiorom Sendirian Berhad, Sunway Damansara recently.

Incorporating the versatility and dynamic personality of a BMW X model, the BMW X6 is equipped with BMW’s intelligent xDrive for variable distribution of drive power between the front and rear axle. Sony Introduces World’s First AVCD Camcorder With Smile Shutter And Face Detection Technology

In responding to consumers’ demands for an extreme functionality and a highly advance camcorder, Sony Malaysia has unveiled its latest High Definition (HD) Handycam HDR-CX12, that is equipped with Smile Shutter and Face Detection technology.

Based on AVCHD encoding technology, the new Handycam HDR-CX12 is able to deliver an impressive 1920×1080i Full HD recording and 10.2 Megapixel still quality image. The new HDR-CX12 also features a ClearVid CMOS sensor with Exmor derived technology and in combining BIONZ image processing engine, the HDR-CX12 ables to achieve video still images that comes with high sensitivity and low noise.

Claimed as the world’s first camcorder with a Smile Shutter technology, the new Handycam HDR-CX12 ables to detect smiles during video recording and automatically captures still images of the scene.

SONY Celebrates a Memorable 20th Year Anniversary in Malaysia

From a humble beginning of a small sales office and modest manufacturing facilities of an audio plant in Penang and CRT television manufacturing plant in Bangi since 1988, Sony group of companies has enjoyed tremendous growth over the years and recently Sony EMCS (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Sony (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd as well as Sony Supply Chain Solutions (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd have jointly celebrated the companies’ 20th anniversary, commemorating the 20 years of great excellence and achievements at JW Marriot Hotel, Putrajaya.

Honda Malaysia Unveils the All-New Premium Jazz at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

Honda Malaysia has unveiled the all-new premium Jazz with an inspiring performance by Malaysia’s top fashion designers and stylist Melinda Looi, Jonathan Cheng, Khoon Hooi and Cris Yong at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre recently.

Astro to Provide Malaysian Youth A Platform For Positive Change

Astro, Malaysia’s leading cross-media group, is banking on the country’s youth population to generate fresh and innovative ideas to win a berth at this year’s United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN GAID) Global Youth Forum to be held from 21-24 October in Armenia.

The objective of the competition is to nurture Malaysian youth to demonstrate their creative and social skills in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) arena.

Speaking at the event which was held at WIP Bangsar Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur recently, Channel Manager of Astro RIA, Mr. Khairul Mizan said ” we are dedicated to investing in our youth, one of our country’s most valuable resources, and empowering them in taking a leadership role in our society”. Also present at the launch was, Mr. Johan Farid Khairuddin, UN GAID Global Youth Forum Representative.

As a proud sponsor of the Malaysian Chapter of UN GAID Global Youth Forum for second year, Astro is organizing a nationwide competition for Malaysian youths 18-25 years (individual or two members per team) to select one or incorporate all of the eight United Nations Millenium Development Goals (UN MDGs) in a written document, a 3-5 minute video, or a prototype, as an active representation demonstrating their strategies, plans and solutions in addressing and achieving these goals.

The eight UN millenium Development Goals are to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, to achieve universal primary education, to promote gender equality and empower women, to reduce child mortality, to improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS, malaria as well as other diseases, to ensure environmental sustainability, and lastly to develop a global partnership for development.

Submission deadline for all entries is 11.59 pm on 25 September 2008. Top three selected entries will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to participated and showcase their work at the 2008 UN GAID Global Youth Forum in Armenia. Malaysian winners of the competition will be announced on 15 October 2008.

MICROSOFT TECH.ED SEA 2008: 3,000 Developers and IT Pros From 41 Countries Converge

Microsoft has chosen Kuala Lumpur as one of its most strategic information and innovation hub to host the largest annual conference Tech.Ed Southeast Asia 2008, for some 3,000 technopreneurs, IT administrators, software developers, and software developers, and software architects from 41 countries throughout the region.

Toyota Eco Youth 2008 Closes its Campaign in a High Note

UMW Toyota Motor Sendirian Berhad, assembler, marketer and distributor of Toyota passenger and commercial vehicles, has recently concluded its 2008 Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) campaign gracefully at Convention and Exhibition Ballroom of Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya.

This Eco Youth campaign is another Corporate Social Responsibility initiated by UMW Toyota Motor, which encompasses in-depth education on preservation of environment. It is a joint effort with Malaysian Ministry of Education to cultivate environmental awareness and encourage respect for the environment among youth in secondary schools. Sixteen schools from nationwide were specially selected by the Ministry of Education based on short essay writing, reasoning why they should be part of TEY and create a problem solving methodology on environmental issues within the vicinity of school compound as well as to develop a concrete counter-measures to overcome environment issues and set a standard control procedure that is able to sustain environment benefits for over a long period.

During the Toyota Eco Youth campaign, a stipulated four-month period on-site evaluation called “Problem-solving Action Oriented Approach” was conducted by the Head of the Environmental Safety and Health of UMW Toyota Motor. This on-site evaluation that carries 40% of the total scores evaluated upon visual presentation/briefing using Microsoft Power Point, verification of data and visual inspection as well as evaluation of effectiveness of drafted plans and improvements.

Meanwhile, the outright Winner of 2008 Toyota Eco Youth Programme was won by Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan SERI KENANGAN of Johore who received RM10,000, while first runners-up and second runners-up went to Sekolah Menengah Kota Samarahan of Sarawak and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Klebang Besar of Malacca, and each of them received RM7,000 and RM5,000 respectively. Sekolah Menengah Abdul Rahman Talib of Pahang who received RM3,000 and SMK Raja Puan Muda Tengku who received RM1,000 grabbed the fourth and fifth placing respectively. As for the Best Presentation category, the award went to SMK SERI KENANGAN, while the award for Best Exhibition category went to SMK (P) ST.George of Penang and Best Website category went to SMK ABDUL RAHMAN TALIB of Pahang ( winner in these categories won RM2,000 each).

Present at event were, Tuan Haji Aminar Rashid Salleh, Executive Director of UMW Toyota Motor, Tuan Haji Mohd Anuar Bin Abdul Hamid, Principal Assistant Director of School Management Division Ministry of Education and Mr Akio Takeyama.

SMK Assunta of Petaling Jaya also received certificate of participation on their inspiring choral speaking performance.
