Volvo Cars Malaysia Launches V50 2.4i To Complete The Unveiling of its Entire Line-Up of ‘Scandinavian Siblings’
In completing its introduction of the entire full range on existing Volvo cars, from luxurious sedans, stylish coupes, to purposeful wagons, and award winning SUVs, Volvo Cars Malaysia has unveiled the V50 2.4i CKD (completely knockdown) at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur recently. Present at the event were, Mr. Robert Norrman, President of Volvo Car Malaysia, Mr Syed Nafis, Sales & Dealer Operations Manager of Volvo Car Malaysia and Mr. Greg Bosnich, Regional Product Manager of Volvo Car Asia Pacific.
Claimed as a perfect choice for weekend getaway, Volvo V50 2.4i (Completely Knock-Down) is powered by the 2.4-litre inline-five engine mated to a five-speed automatic Geartronic transmission. The engine churns out 170hp and 230Nm of torque, while its fuel consumption is at a respectable 9.1 litres per 100km.
The exterior of V50 features a well rounded nose, short bonnet, pronounced cab-forward stance, broad-shoulders and convex side panels.The tail lamps follow Volvo’s modern form and sweep up towards the road panel. The space between the letters in the rear Volvo emblem has been enlarged to enhanced visibility of the prestigious brand name. An Auto-fold function has been introduced for the power retractable mirror option.
Interiorly, the fold-flat backrest offer an entirely flat folding surface, the loading compartment is offering an extension of 46mm at the rear section. The Volvo V50 saw the introduction of Volvo’s ultra slim, free-floating centre console with illuminated storage compartment behind. A notable feature is the built-in child booster seat for both rear corner seats. A simple pull on the lever will automatically placed a seat to accomodate a small child.
Safety features such as Whiplash Protection System (WHIPS), Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) and Inflatable Curtain (IC) are included to reduce risk of occupant injury in the event of collision.
The new V50 2.4i is priced at RM185,500 (on-the-road without insurance) and is available in 3 variant colours namely, black sapphire, electric silver and titanium grey. Sony Malaysia Releases The Much Awaited PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) at One Utama Shopping Centre
Hundreds of avid PS3 gamers camped at the entrance of One Utama Shopping New Wing for two days prior to the official launch on 20th September 2008 and this new generation multi functional complete entertainment system was well received by all Malaysians, as, Sony Malaysia, appointed by Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong Limited (SCEH) has unveiled Sony Playstation 3 with a grand style.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Naoi Sudo, Managing Director of Sony Malaysia Sendirian Berhad said “the timely introduction of PS3 coincides with Sony’s aim in providing full high-definition entertainment to every home”. Sony Computer Entertainment Asia President, Mr. Tetsuhiko Yasuda said ” the timing of PS3 launch in Malaysia was good as the market for high-definition products and broadband infrastructure to support the PS3 system is growing at a rapid pace in Malaysia”.
Meanwhile, Mr. Taku Taguchi, General Manager of Product Marketing Division, Sony Malaysia echoed Mr. Naoi Sudo sentiment by expressing,”the new generation PS3 has given all Malaysian gamers a total enjoyment of a complete range of multi function entertainment features, due to its Blu-Ray player capability, Cell Broaband Engine, DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller, HDMI output, and WiFi connectivity to surf internet”. Mr Taguchi also added “to date there are more than 200 games title available on the shelf and the price of the games is expected to be affordable in future”.
