RHB Launches TESCO-RHB Cards for the Benefits of All Malaysian Shoppers

In offering Malaysian consumers the fastest way to get more savings and benefits each time they shop, the RHB Banking Group, one of Malaysia’s leading financial services providers, retail industry player Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and the world’s largest retail electronic payments network, Visa have joined forces and launched two co-brand cards: the Tesco-RHB Credit Card and Tesco-RHB Debit Card.
The launch of these cards – at a time of escalating costs and cautious spending – plays an important role in helping customers trim their expenses and manage their spending more effectively.
Designed with the consumer in mind, the Tesco-RHB Credit and Debit Cards are ideal for people from all walks of life. The cards come with benefits that give shoppers more value at Tesco outlets and other establishments.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Michael Barrett, Group Managing Director of the RHB Banking Group, said, “With the collaborative offering of the Tesco-RHB Credit and Debit Cards, customers will get more value and savings – it is a proposition that helps bring financial relief, particularly during these challenging times. In a nutshell, both Tesco-RHB Credit and Debit Cards are designed to help customers shop smarter”.
According to Mr. David Hobbs, Chief Operating Officer of Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, “We are the only hypermarket to run its own loyalty card (Clubcard) and today we are delighted to launch the Tesco-RHB credit and debit cards, giving customers up to 5% cash back plus double Clubcard points at Tesco as well as accumulating Clubcard points on all spending outside of Tesco”. Mr. Hobbs also added, “as of todate Tesco has a total of 2 million Tesco Clubcard holders, which has given out more than 10 million points. With the anticipation of opening 4 more outlets, Tesco hopes to have a total of 2.5 milion Tesco Clubcard members”.
Meanwhile, Mr. Renzo Viegas of RHB Retail Head said,” This year, RHB Bank Berhad hopes to secure 250,000 new credit card customers by offering more rewards and benefits to them”. Mr.Renzo also added,” RHB will always try to cater to all segments of the market so that everyone will benefit from the cards introduced by the company”. The launch of RHB-Tesco cards was graced by Dato’ Sharir Abdul Samad, Minister of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affair. Also present at the event were, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Abid, Chairman of Tesco Stores Malaysia, Dato’ Abdullah Mat Noh, Chairman of RHB Investment Bank and Director of RHB Bank Berhad, Mr. Stuart Tomlinson, Country Manager of Visa Malaysia, Mr. Paul Morris, Marketing Director of Tesco Malaysia and Mr. Sonii Hwang of Tesco.

Customers who apply for the Tesco-RHB Credit Card will get a 2% cash rebate and earn double Clubcard Points every day at all Tesco stores. On the last weekend of each month, they will enjoy a higher cash rebate of 5% as well as earning double Clubcard Points. These Clubcard Points will be converted to Clubcard cash vouchers which customers can use to offset their spending at Tesco. Additionally, with the credit card, customers can accumulate Clubcard Points anywhere and whenever they use it, be it for dining, shopping, travelling or petrol purchases.
The Tesco-RHB Debit Card provides the convenience of cash in a card, making it safer and more convenient for customers to shop. Applying for the debit card is also easy as there is no income requirement.
Every time customers spend with the Tesco-RHB Debit Card, they will collect up to five times as many Clubcard Points at Tesco stores. The debit card works just like the Tesco-RHB Visa Credit Card: customers can use it to earn Clubcard Points anywhere and any time, from restaurants to petrol stations.

RHB Launches “Easy Makeover” Contest for all RHB Cardmembers
Following the recent successful response of RHB “That’s Easy” contest from the public, RHB Cards has introduced the latest RHB “Easy Makeover” contest to all new as well as existing RHB card members (Principal and Supplementary including RHB prepaid and debit card members) at Saloma Restaurant.

Extending its effort to continuously rewarding its loyal customers with attractive prizes, this upcoming contest will be giving out a home, a car or a personal makeover worth up to RM10,000.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Renzo Viegas , Head of Retail Banking Group, said, “…as we are entering festive season, we hope we could change the Malaysians lives with just a simple sms-ing RHB cardnumber, just 1 time registration for new card members, & each successful registration are eligible for 3 contest entries, meanwhile, for those existing card members who spent every RM50 or more in 1 receipt (are eligible for 1 contest entry), and for every Approved Balance Transfer, card members are entitled for 2 contest entries…”. RHB Banking Group Launches Cash-Connect and My Cash-i Debit MasterCard cards for Malaysians

RHB Banking Group has launched the Cash-Connect and My Cash-i Debit MasterCard in line with its commitment to promote simplified banking at The Ascott recently.

Claimed as the first debit cards in the world to bear the special mc2 design, the new RHB Cash-Connect and its sister card My Cash-i debit card are innovatively designed to provide as an alternative solution to help its user to manage money effectively, a convenience as well as a safety means to make payments and fund transactions.

Speaking at the launch, Group Managing Director, RHB Banking Group, Mr. Michael Barrett said, “With our 0.5% cash back feature, these two cards enable customers to benefit from their spending and manage funds effectively. It’s our way of thanking our customers for choosing to bank with RHB. The debit cards are effectively created as payment tools for monitoring and controlling household spending”. ETIQA Launches Comprehensive Package For SMEs/SMIs to Provide Immediate Coverage
Malayan Banking Berhad’s (Maybank) insurance and takaful arm, Etiqa, has recently launched the first of its kind comprehensive product, BizPac, in the Malaysian market. BizPac is introduced to capture the growing number of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Small Medium Industries (SMI) in the country and it is designed to assist proprietors to manage their business with confidence, as they are well protected in the event of unfortunate incidents.
Speaking at the launch, Executive Vice President for Etiqa Enterprise Corporate, Mr Shahrul Azuan Mohamed said, “according to Ministry of International Trade and Industry there are over 590,000 SMEs in Malaysia”. EON BANK Group’s Grand Draw, ‘Win-A-Jaguar’ With The Pavilion Card

RHB Launches Its New Logo
RHB unveiled its new logo at its RHB Centre, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur recently. It was officially launched by Minister of Finance II, Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop and the new logo symbolizes the Banking’s Group’s determination to be on right track in facing local and regional challenges in the progress of moving forward.
