The Salvatore Ferragamo (SF) latest men’s collection breathes new ideas for the contemporary and metropolitan luxury style. Hence SF Autumn/Winter’ 09 Collection, with clothes that prep one for the chilly months but won’t bundle one up like a trendy eskimo in furry coats and snug gloves. This season must-have accessories for Salvatore Ferragamo men are, the half-briefcase, half weekend bag, a completely new tote-bag and cashmere long johns, overcoats and double-breasted jackets. The suits are structured, pants are slim, jackets are neat and comfortably cut, the focus is on exqusite tailoring remains in each piece.

The women’s collection revealed the new Salvatore Ferragamo’s woman which was an ensemble of couture and metallic heels that created a sophiticated and contemporary elegance. The highlights are stylish tones of dark red, followed by nocturnal colors. Acollection that brings feminity to a new with its gloved arch and its famous leather-line “Ferragamo-shank”. And in the spirit of the coming season, they are given a sophisticated feel with satin and velvet,  that exudes the style of screen siren Scarlett Johansson infused with the rock-chic Gwen Stefani.

adidas Launches Women’s Training Collection for the Fall/Winter 2008 Season

In capturing the essence of modern Asian women who favor a regular fitness workout at gym, adidas, the global sportwear manufacturer, has introduced Women’s Training Collection for the Fall/Winter 2008 season at The Gardens Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently.

Isetan Kuala Lumpur Launches “Bags of The Season Fall/Winter 2008″

Isetan Kuala Lumpur, one of the most renowned giant fashion and apparel retailing outlet in the world, has introduced its latest themed “Bags of The Season Fall/Winter 2008″ at Isetan The Gardens, Kuala Lumpur recently.

Dubbed as “Must-Haves” and “IT” bags from renowned International Designers namely, Anya Hindmarch, Burberry, Celine, Loewe, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Salvatore Ferragamo, this season is focus on attitude where, punchy colors and texture inculcated with strong personal style, punctuated with modernity and ingenious creativity are the highlights of the day.

Six international designers that have showcased their most outstanding design of the season are Anya Hindmarch featuring the easy glamour of seventies using rich color palette of caramel, bitter chocolate, midnight blue, forest green and stone in tactile fabrics of quilted and woven leather, suede cord, patent, python and shagreen highlighted with pale gold hardware and mirror accents. The Perry is the key factor for this season, combining patchwork colors of creams, tan and sharp chocolate for the ultimate appeal. The Minnelli mini holdall and Slade shoulder bag complete the geometric patchwork.The daytime clutch such as Bosley which features structured calf and gold rectangular handle, evening with a touch of 70’s inspired from Slim Aarons photographs, the oversized Piano, structured Burton, striped Lovett and box style Marano are the timeless design.

Burberry collection is inspired by the mood, spirit and color palette evoked in paintings by eminent British artist, L S Lowry. The Lowry bag which is available in three sizes, is the latest addition to its accessories’ collection. The functional bag is fitted with internal pockets for mobile phones, MP3 players and PDAs. The color palette of Burberry collection echoes the muted yet opulent hues of Fall/Winter 2008 ready to wear pieces including trench, dark ochre, racing green and Bordeux. Texture is the key feature of accessories collection and extended to non-apparel.

With a combination of chic army style with a cool ‘retro’ design that comes with eternally fashionable flap bag, in several shapes and sizes: casual , Celine has unveiled the new “Watch Me” bags that also emphasize on classic coated Canvas with the new Tourbillon range (meaning Whirlwind in French, name after the famous stallion). Remastered, the Sulky is multiplied, bending over backwards to create a spinning whirlwind.

This fall, Loewe bags encompasses very polished, almost synthetic, finishes on leather, noble exotics in high shine and polka dot nappa combine with padded suede and more rugged calf skin. Loewe’s Creative Director, Stuart Vevers themed “Hardware” is inspired by everyday functionality and industrial elements, padlocks, sports, clips and door locks are all included in refined gold or gunmetal. The Loewe bags goes from mini to super sized in color Perspex with a twist of anarchic. Charm closures come as screwdrivers, faceted hearts and champagne corks. The material and color combinations are unexpected and impulsive.

Meanwhile, Marc By Marc Jacobs’ bag design is inspired by 1970’s New York punk scene, where the graphic and graffiti enhanced depth and brings out a strong and impactful color story. The latest bags focus on “technique” with distressed leathers textured lamb and padded leather for added dimension and interest. As for the graphic elements are dwelt by nautical blues and reds, eventually ending in a pre-spring palate cleanser of softer colors, supple patents and painterly inspired prints. A new “Tote-ally” concept is implemented for this fall. A package of mixed material and non-leather that are also offered to Marc customers.

Salvatore Ferragamo’s bag signature concept; simplicity of form, richness of materials, absolute mastery construction techniques and inspiration showcases perfect creations fashioned from a single hide of leather, with no break between the handles and the body of bag, featuring nappa, patent leather and various, sophisticated tie-dyed pony skin, crocodile, ostrich, python and water snake with a touch of luxury from optical effects. The uniqueness of Ferragamo is it manage to turn any material into an idea such as wood, a part of a tree, the bark becomes an extraordinary shopping-bag. An eco-friendly method which comes in a very old and difficult tanning technique, has been conceptualized this trendy fall. Clutch bags with a retractable “gancio” fastening to sport on hand or twist. Small leather goods in a “Vara” edition. Sartorial effect pleats, very soft volumes, 3-D textures. Grand Finale of Fashion Fushion Extravaganza at Berjaya Times Square

Fashion is always a mirror of society and it is the well, style-wise and creativity of fashion designer that certainly know how to showcase their presence felt and fine-tuned the art of wooing the audiences. In its effort to demonstrate and highlights a selected eclectic mix of international brands and high fashion local labels available within the biggest shopping mall in Malaysia, Berjaya Times Square has recently showcased the final instalment of Fashion Fusion held in conjunction with the Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival 2008 and Visit Malaysia Year, supported by Shopping Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia.

The grand finale themed “Fashion Extravaganza” marks the end of a week long series of fashion shows which highlights a casual yet an intimate offerings by two prominent local designers, Key Ng and Carven Ong.

Carven Ong, arguably the most anticipated designer of our times in local scene, features long and languorous dresses mix match with girlie glitz; short, sheer dresses; sequined sparkles to reflect short and sweet. The key trends from Carven designs emphasize on lean silhouettes mix with chiffon as well as lace with floral prints; sculptural tailoring came out strongly with tiny waists and wide shoulders.

Meanwhile, Key Ng conform to Fashion Fusion’s theme “Work. Play.Relax” by highlighting the latest collections in office and formal attire for Work, sportwear or active lifestyle apparels for Play and casual wear to Relax. With simplicity rules, Carven mix match pants with long sleeves with a pinch of simple knee length glitzy dress for young trendy chicks.

L’Oreal Colour Trophy- The French ” Oscars of Hairdressing” Extravaganza

Hailed as the ‘Oscar of the Hairdressing Industry’, the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award 2008 is in its seventh year of celebration. The most impressive and remarkable hair creations which set the modern and unexpected twist of classical trends to the French sense of beauty, Gala event was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre recently.

Honourable guests, VIPs, celebrities and members from the media were treated a variety creations of innovative hairstyle themed AVENGER “THRILLER” by our very homegrown L’Oreal Professionel Artistic Ambassadors such as, Albert Nico, Andy Chan, Simon Koh, Miko Au and Kevin Woo.

The latest five Malaysian L’Oreal Ambassadors have highlighted their interpretation of this year’s theme on Asian beauty, a real tribute to Malaysian creativity.

L’Oreal Managing Director, Mr. Jean Francois Couve presenting a bouquet to L’Oreal PROFESSIONEL ARTISTIC AMBASSADOR, Mr. Albert Nico and Mr. Simon Koh. Later in the evening 12 finalists of L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award were given opportunity to parade their ultimate creations of hairstyle.

While, F08-Mr. Ng Chee Keong of Elle Hair Academy, believes that one hairstyle presents unlimited culture, that allows unlimited creativity and rooms to explore one’s talents.

F11-Mr. James Chin Fan Seng of Andy Chan Hair Studio, believes there is unlimited creativity in hairdressing industry as long as one continues to express with passion and determination. While, F12- Mr. Loong Teng Choon of Shawn Cutler, likes to participate in competitions because by doing so, he feels motivated to improve and share his creativity while at the same time getting recognition for his hardwork and talent.

Twelve finalists have expressed a colour statement that is modern, highlight cutting edge which reflects the new season’s trend and ultimately leads the future hair trends for the year 2008 and beyond.

Hush Puppies Showcases Fashion Spectacular at Mid Valley

The Hush Puppies brand celebrated its half century milestone of casual style with a fashion spectacular, which was held in conjunction with the Mid Valley Megamall Fashion Week 2008 recently.

The Hush Puppies 50 years celebration themed “fashion spectacular” was separated into 3 segments ; “Retro Deluxe”, which showcased 1950s Hollywood settings that layout smart casual with shirts and vests in subtle hues, punctuated with pinks and reds and chic black and white ensembles. The second segment of the night “Rhythm & Blu”, includes a troupe of 11 percussionists performing on stage in rhythmic groove to parade the latest adult and children’s design, where sporty street wear took the center stage. Full of relaxed altitude, the cast was dressed in denims paired with bright edgy colours and funky stripes that epitomised what true casual style really was. “Harmony” set to roll out 20 feet of carpet and dotting it with ‘green’ animals along the runway to underline Hush Puppies ‘green’ theme. In “Harmony” segment featured earth tones including warm yellows, sandy creams, earthy browns and greens. This segment also showcased Hush Puppies commitment to use only natural fibres – 100% linen and 100% cotton fabric – to ensure comfort, durability and positive impact towards the environment.

The event’s themed ‘Bata brings music to your life’ was to showcase percussionists, cheerleaders. breakdancers and local R&B artiste, Syed Azmir accompanying the models as they parade up on stage to the sounds of hip-hop, R&B, beatbox and reggae tunes.

Bata’s Senior Marketing Manager, Dato’ James Selvaraj said ‘Music’ was chosen because it reflects the brand’s new identity, exciting, vibrant, suitable for all ages and fresh, thus this fashion highlight is the first step towards rejuvenating the brand.

Dato’ Selvaraj also added Bata recognises the needs to keep abreast with latest trends. Among collections showcased at the fashion show were Bata’s range of sports, kids, school, beach, casuals, comfort, men and women footwear from its Marie Claire, Power, Bubblegummers, B-First, Island, Weinbrenner, Comfit, Bata Menswear and Bata Womenswear brands.

Rahman Saif Unveils His Latest Batik Design in Local Scene

Rahman Saif graduated in Fashion Designing from the Turino School of Fashion, Italy, has been in fashion scene for more than twenty years and started exapanding his touch and creativity in batik for the past 12 years. While abroad, he had the oppportunity to work and gained invaluable experience in Europe’s renowned fashion house like, Marks and Spencer in London and practical training under the Giorgio Armani fashion house.

Rahman Saif started his business by taking orders to design ladies and men’s wear before creating his very own ready-to-wear line of clothes with the RAHMAN SAIF label. His fully intergrated wardrobe designs ranges from office wear, casuals, evening dress to the traditional and contemporary bridal garments.

In 1995, he took another step forward by trying his talented hands at batik- a very own Malaysian produced of crafty wear that mainly use silk as the material. Mr. Rahman latest design features contemporary batik and uses two main motifs deriving from nature and geometric shapes such as, flowers, animal prints, lines, tie and dye, rectangles, triangles and circles.

Mr. Rahman’s works are well accepted and admired for his creative and innovative use of batik, matched with clothes designs that fit well with the batik placing and his unique collections have appeared in various local medias. Mr Rahman Saif’s fashion line is also sought after by well known celebrities.

The latest collection highlight a range of Rahman’s bridal wear and evening wear that features an innovative and elegant touch of batik elements contemporary design ( material usage of silk, chiffon, crepe, lace and broked). In conjunction with the Rahman’s Fashion show, all the medias were treated with mouth-watering high-tea and varieties of desserts at Impiana KLCC Hotel & Spa, Jalan Pinang, Kuala Lumpur .

FRENCH ART OF HAIR: Presenting the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award 2008

As a main player in cosmetics industry, 12 finalists of the L’Oreal Colour Trophy Award 2008, recognised as Malaysia’s most innovative and prestigious hairdressing event, were unveiled at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre recently. The L’Oreal Colour Trophy 2008, themed as the ‘Oscar Of The Hairdressing Industry’ is back with a difference, by retracing its roots with the theme ‘French Art of Hair’.

The theme this year is in line with the brand’s direction-looking for a hair creation that is modern but gives an unexpected twist to classical trends of French sense of beauty and French inspired creations, such as, French heritage in architectures of art, French touch in hair and fashion or even the French taste in art of living and cuisine.The winning look will express a fashionable colour design that is modern with cutting-edge, which reflects the trends of new season that will ultimately leads the future hair trends of 2008.

In conjunction with the Colour Trophy Award, five new L’Oreal Professionnel Artistic Ambassadors (AA) for 2008/2009 were also unveiled, and these five new Ambassadors were recognised by L’Oreal for their creativity and expertise in the field of professional hairdressing, thus will represent as the face and voice of L’Oreal Professionnel for these coming two years.
