Carrefour Malaysia initiates “No Plastic Bags” usage at its new Carrefour Market
Echoing government’s call to provide a better living environment to all Malaysian public, Carrefour Malaysia has kickstarted its “Plastic Bag-less” campaign at its new 19th outlet called Carrefour Market recently.

Located at The Sphere, Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, the latest Carrefour Market, with an area size of 2000 square metres, will be used as a stepping stone to eliminate usage of plastic bags among shoppers to improve a healthy living society amid global warming that is critically progressing on earth.

Officiating the launch of Carrefour Market, Datuk M Saravanan, Deputy Minister of Federal Territory, said, “I applaud this move from Carrefour and hope that the other retailers will follow suit”. According to Mr. Tan Bee Hock, founder of Bintang Maju, ” With the establishment of th P2HD experience centre, we hope that more professional users can try out the Panasonic P@ technology and further expand their knowledge of the P2 workflow. This will enhance, encourage and enables the P2 users to maximze their knowledge, capabilities and advantages of Panasonic P2 technology and in return benefit their businesses.
Mr. Tan also added that, ” In future development on this experience centre, the consumers can expect further added facilities to be incorporated into existing workflow. Currently, Bintang Maju Commercial is working closely with Apple and Graphic Vision, sole distributor for Canopus editing systems.
Mr. Yukio Okamoto, General Manager of Business Systems Division, echoed the sentiment by saying, ” This is the first of its kind in South East Asia and we strongly believe that this centre will create a new platform for all our valued professional and non-professional customers”.
Titan Launches “Exclusive Titan Boutique” In South East Asia
Titan Industries which has more than 225 Exclusive showrooms across 118 cities, is the world’s 5th largest intergrated watch manufacturer (producing more than 9 million watches every year, and with a customer base of over 80 million in 30 countries) has launched its first Exclusive Boutique in South East Asia at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur recently. The Titan Boutique which has an approximately 700 square feet of retail space, features 350 watch designs with an affordable price range from RM100 to RM720, is targeting young Malaysian consumers age from 16 to 35 years.
In his opening remarks on the momentous event, Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director of Titan Industries Limited said, “The opening of this exclusive boutique in Kuala Lumpur marks the entry of Titan Indusries in South East Asia as a retailer”. Mr. Bhaskar Bhat added, “Malaysia was selected essentially for the young, trendy and fashionable consumer, whereby, lifestyle in Malaysia, especially in Kuala Lumpur is exciting and fast pace”. Mr. Bhat is targeting to have 4 boutiques in Kuala Lumpur by the end of year 2008, also to have a boutique in every major city in South East Asian countries by 2009.
